At Pompeii, your local expert guide will bring to life the remains of Pompeii that will include many insights into how life was in Roman Times. Your tour will include: visits to the interiors of the homes of Pompeii's wealthier citizens, ancient street café's where locals dined where you'll learn about traditional Roman cuisine.
As well as enjoying numerous anecdotes about life in Pompeii that will include some of the Graffiti dating back to Roman times that are still visible throughout the ruins.
After the guided tour of the ruins of Ancient Pompeii, you'll drive up to the summit of Mt.Vesuvius. The aftermath of the previous eruptions has created a lush-green environment on the slopes of Mt. Vesuvius where vineyards cling to the hillsides and the air is scented by citrus groves.
The view from Mt. Vesuvius on a clear day is stunning, with the curve of the coast and the tiny white houses set amongst pine woods and brooms.
Those in good shape can take a 30 minute walk up hill to the crater of the Volcano (which is still active.!)
Afterwards back to Sorrento by motorcoach.
Notes:
Tour escorted by an official Tour Guide of the Campania Region.
Guests must be able to walk approximately 5.5 miles over varying terrain.
Caution is advised when walking across hardened lava and rocky ground where crevices still exude fumes and heat.
Low heeled and comfortable walking or hiking shoes, hat and sunscreen protection are recommended.
The order of the tour may be reversed according to the weather conditions.
